Do not attempt to adjust your screen...lol.Yes, they do look like locs in person. There are plenty of videos on youtube of people curling and braiding them.
Co-signing on the previous comment...I don't know how many times I've been to that site and not found ANY info.
The site is actually very helpful. You just have to know how to navigate it.
There is not a single page with the entire method on it.All of the links at the top of the page are elements of the method.
Say you want to wash the braids, then you click the link about washing.
What I said in the video IS the method though. If you'd like more detail I can inbox you what I sent blford7.

African American Hairstyles: Yarn Braids - Yahoo!Voices - voices.
yahoo.com Preview Mail w/ Y!Toolbar A.Hermitt, Yahoo!
Contributor Network Jun 5, 2010 "Share your voice on Yahoo!
websites.Start Here." If you wear your hair in extensions like I do, you have very likely had several challenges.
First, after a couple of weeks your hair starts to frizz while the extension hair stays straight.
This leaves a tell-tale line revealing your actual length and it also signals that it is time to re-braid your hair.
Even if you do twists with kinky extensions there is the problem of your hair breaking when you take the extensions out as they intermingle so tightly with your own hair.
The solution may have been found in an age old technique for using yarn in creating hair extensions.
Unlike real hair which is never available in actual African American kinky texture, yarn is a very in texture.
Braid extensions made from yarn will look good longer.
In fact, many wearers report them looking better the longer they wear them.Yarn braids are lighter in weight and don't cause headaches and traction alopeicia.
Yarn braids are easy to put in.It is done the same way as regular braid extensions.
Yarn braids help you hold moisture from hair oils into your hair.
Of course, yarn braids are not perfect. The downsides of using yarn braids are: Yarn braids take longer to dry and if they don't dry well, they get a mildewy smell.
You need to burn the ends or secure it with bands. The burnt ends can snag your blouses.
For little children, it is cute to bead the ends so that is avoided. It can be difficult to find the right color yarn to match your hair.
I haven't tried putting yarn braids in my own hair yet, but my daughter is due a new hairstyle.
If our pool had chlorine in it I wouldn't even attempt it because the water might bleach the yarn, but it is saline, so I am going to talk her into letting me do it.
I am looking forward to braiding my hair with yarn too because I love the look of dreads!
For more information on yarn braids check out this urbanhaircareblog that lists everything you ever wanted to know about yarn braids including videos on how to bread them.

Yarn Twists African American Hair | thirstyroots.com: Black Hairstyles and Hair Care I love my thirsty roots!
thirstyroots.com: Black Hairstyles and Hair Care Creating yarn twists can be loads of fun, especially if you throw in some exciting colors every now and then.
Finding yarn that matches your exact hair color might be difficult.
Try to get it as close as possible to your own and you can stick in a few strands of other colors if you want.
Learning how to add yarn twists African American hair stylists charge for can provide you with an excellent hairstyle for much less.
Once you have your yarn choice, you will need to wet your hair and divide it into four sections.
Make sure each section is equal and then divide these into rows.
Start with the lock of hair that is closest to the middle of the head.
Your yarn strands should be already cut into the desired lengths.
Each strand of yarn will need to be folded in half and it is from this that the desired length should be taken.
If you measure the length before folding it in half, you will end up with pieces that are too short.
Make sure to add on a few inches to give you room when you attach the yarn to the hair.
Wet the lock of hair and add some gel as well.Having an additional set of hands might be very helpful with this next step.
You will need to hold the lock of hair out straight and wrap the yarn around where the hair attaches to the scalp.
Criss cross the yarn in opposite directions to wind it around the lock.
After you’ve made a few wraps with the yarn, be sure to check and see if the strands of yarn are still equal lengths.
This is why you wrap the yarn evenly in both directions.
Braid the yarn into the hair for an inch or so and then begin the twists after this.
When you finally make it to the end of the twist, you can secure the ends by tying a knot in the yarn.
If you don’t like the knot showing in the yarn, you can opt for taking a lighter and singeing the yarn.
It will turn it a lighter color, but you can roll it between your fingers while it is hot and make is stay together.
The finished product will provide you with yarn twists African American hair stylists pay big money to create.
It will take quite a bit of time, but the result will be fabulous.

com: Black Hairstyles and Hair Care 2012.All rights reserved.Video: How to Create Yarn Braid Hair Extensions | eHow.
com Creating yarn braid hair extensions requires sectioning the hair into a half-inch square part, wrapping the extension onto the human hair and braiding it down tightly.
See how to add any kind of extension, whether it be yarn, synthetic hair or human hair, with helpful advice from a certified hairstylist in this free video on ethnic care.
And now I will demonstrate yarn braid hair extensions, but for demonstration purposes I will use human hair.
To do a yarn braid hair extension, what you do is you would take half of an inch subsection, part the hair off into a square subsection or a section of our choice.
Take the yarn or the hair to be added, part it in two sections, twist it over, and then apply it on to on top of the hair.
I'm going to have to squeeze it tight here Tina. Now that demonstrates a braid using yarn or synthetic hair or human hair.

How to Do Yarn Braids | eHow.com Yarn is lighter and less expensive than human hair extensions.
Yarn braids, otherwise known as genie locs, are temporary hair extensions which involve braiding soft acrylic yarn into your natural hair.
You can use yarn that matches your hair color or you can add vibrant colors such as purple or red.
A ball of yarn can be purchased for under $5 in most department or craft supply stores, so yarn braids are an inexpensive way to keep hair styled and protected.
They should be removed after four to six weeks.Does this Spark an idea?
Measure the length you'd like the yarn braids to be with a measuring tape.
You can make them as long or as short as you'd like.Keep in mind that the longer the hair, the more time-consuming the process of braiding will be.
Double the length decided in Step 1 and cut the yarn with a scissor. You want each piece of yarn to be double the final length of the hair.
Cut several pieces of yarn to the same length. How many you need will depend on how many braids you will be making.
You may need to cut yarn as you go, based upon your progress.Lay the yarn out neatly next to your work area.
Brush your clean, dry hair to remove any tangles.Separate your hair into four sections using a rat-tail comb: two in the front and two in the back.
You will be beginning in the back of your head so clip all but one rear section up and out of your way.
Select a one-inch section of hair and moisturize with a light styling oil.
Grasp two pieces of yarn at their centers. There should be an equal length of yarn on either side of the center.
Place the center loop of the yarn next to the scalp right underneath the one-inch section of hair.
Pull the hair through the center loop and grasp the top of the yarn and the hair tightly at the root.
Divide the yarn and hair into three sections for braiding. You should have two pieces of yarn on the left, your hair in the center and the other two pieces of yarn on the right.
Continue holding the top of the entire bundle tightly with one hand.
Braid the yarn and hair together as you would normally braid.Do this by bringing the left section to the center, then the right to the center and so on.
Braid until you have about 1/2 inch of natural hair left.At this point, bring one piece of yarn from the right section over to the natural hair and continue braiding.
You will now have your original two pieces of yarn on the left, your hair plus one piece of yarn in the center and a single piece of yarn on the right.
Continue braiding the yarn until you reach the end.Add a small elastic to hold the braid.
Repeat Steps 6 to 12 for your entire head.Wash and dry your braids carefully as yarn can hold moisture and develop odors over time.
