(1 INCH = 25.4 MM EXACTLY) MORE USEFUL CONVERSIONS To convert decimal fractions of an inch to fractions of an inch.GDC east coast ryders cars.
Take the decimal fraction of feet and divide by 0.08333 (1/12th) and this will give you inches and decimals of an inch.
For example - 6.37 feet.Take the 0.37 feet and divide by 0.
0833 = 4.44 inches .So for 6.37 ft.we can also say 6 ft.-  4.
44 in.Now take the 0.44 in.and round it down to 0.4 which is 4/10" We can now say 6.
37' approximatly equals 6' - 4 4/10" For fractions of an inch other than tenth's, take the decimal remainder of inches and divide by: 0.
125 for the number of eighth's 0.0625 for the number of sixteenth's 0.
03125 for the number of thirty-second's 0.015625 for the number of sixty-fourth's, and so on.
For example - 4.382 inches.For eighth's, divide the remainder, 0.
382 by 0.125 and the answer is 3.056 so the fraction is a bit over 3 eighth's, therefore the answer ends up as approx.

To ensure accurate, economical printing when publications designed or typeset in one country are printed in a second country, it may be necessary to convert standard English (inch) measurements to metric measurements or vice versa; but fractional and decimal inches can complicate calculations (e.
g., finding that 297 mm = 11.6929 inches may not be immediately useful).
To help simplify calculations, EDS Inc., Editorial & Design Services, has published the following tables.
Fractional Inches to Decimal Inches to Approximate Millimeters to Practical Millimeters Decimal inches multiplied by 25.
4 = approximate mm.N.B.When specifying metric sheet or trim sizes, fractional approximate mm measurements must be rounded off to the nearest whole number; i.
e., 50.8 mm is not a practical measurement; it should be rounded up to 51 mm, and 0.5 mm is always rounded down.
Millimeters to Decimal Inches to Approximate Fractional Inches to Practical Fractional Inches Millimeters divided by 25.

How to Convert Decimals Into Feet, Inches and Fractions of an Inch | eHow.
com Along with playtime and naptime, students are introduced to fractional expressions as early as kindergarten.
Sometimes a decimal just won't cut it.Sometimes, you need to know where a number lands on a ruler and not on a calculator screen.
Transferring decimals into more usable measurements can be valuable to anyone buying building supplies, taking a math class or for a myriad of reasons.
By following a few steps, you can change those meaningless numbers into more usable forms.
Convert the fractions first. For mixed fractions, an amount with a whole number and a fraction, set the whole number -- numbers before the decimal -- aside.
If your measurement is 1.3 feet, for example, you know that you have one whole foot plus a fraction.
Now you only need to deal with the 0.3 of a foot.Write the decimal measurement without the decimal on a piece of paper as a fraction according to the following: Write an equal sign (=) to the right of this fraction.
Place another fraction -- an "x" on top and a 12 on the bottom -- to the right of the equal sign.
The 12 stands for the amount of inches in 1 foot, and the "x" stands for the unknown number you are trying to solve in this equation -- namely, how many inches does 0.
3 equal. This is called a proportion equation, which means that both ratios, or fractions, are equivalent.
Cross-multiply the two fractions. For example, if you have written: 3/10 = x/12, you multiply: 3*12 and x*10; so your new expression will be: 36=10x.
Divide both sides of the equation by 10 -- the number is beside the "x.
" In this case, x=3.6, which tells us that the fraction solved equals 3 6/10 inches, which further breaks down to 3 3/5 inches.
Reduce the final fraction as much as possible by finding a common denominator.
In the example above, the remainder is 6/10 of an inch.
The common denominator for this fraction is 2, since 2 goes into both numbers without any remainders.
Two goes into six, three times and goes into 10, five times.
Thus, the fraction is reduced to 3/5.This means 1.3 feet is equal to 1 foot, 3 3/5 inches, which also can be expressed as 1' 3 3/5".
Round up the number if accuracy isn't critical and you just need an approximation.
Since 3/5 is more than half an inch, this could be rounded up to 4 inches.
So the original measurement of 1.3 feet is now understood to equal 1 foot, 3 3/5 inches, or 1 foot, 4 inches when rounded.
